Marketplaces make procurement easy. The contract, the SLA and the people still come from us.

Every channel on this page installs the same server. How you buy it, who runs it and what it is licensed to do are separate choices.

Managed dedicated server

Ethora TechOps installs, scales and updates your server in the geography you choose, under an enterprise SLA. Run it in our AWS sub-account, in your own cloud account, or on premises.

Self-hosted chat server

Enterprise licence on any install

An Enterprise licence key, applied in the admin panel, adds push notifications, AI agents, compliance logging, SSO and multi-tenant hosting to the server you already installed. No reinstall, no migration.

Cloud marketplaces for teams that buy through their cloud account, installers and Compose for your own servers, a Helm chart for Kubernetes, and one-click apps for home and small-team platforms. The same images everywhere, so you can move between them later.

Cloud marketplaces

A machine image with a first-boot setup page. Launch it from the marketplace, open the address, sign in as admin with the instance id as the password, and finish setup in the browser. The server sits in your cloud account and on your cloud bill.

AWS Marketplace

Live

AMI with a first-boot setup page, plus a CloudFormation template for unattended installs. Purchases count toward committed AWS spend; private offers available for enterprise terms.

Your own servers

Any Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04 server with 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM and ports 80 and 443 open, at any provider or on premises. About ten minutes from the first command to the first login. See requirements.

One-line installer

Live

Clones the installer, asks for anything you leave out, installs from the published images and issues a Let's Encrypt certificate. One command installs, one updates.

curl -fsSL https://get.ethora.com | bash -s -- --domain chat.example.com --admin-email [email protected]

Docker Compose

Live

One directory for any Docker host: run the configure script, then bring the stack up. A single-file variant exists for platforms that take a pasted stack.

./configure.sh && docker compose up -d

Portainer

Live

Add the Ethora app template URL in Portainer and deploy it as a stack from the Templates view.

Containers and Kubernetes

The same published images, packaged for a cluster or pulled directly.

Helm chart

Live

OCI chart on Docker Hub, listed on Artifact Hub. Set the root domain and the admin e-mail, and the chart does the rest.

Docker Hub images

Live

dappros/ethora-api, ethora-frontend and ethora-xmpp, plus the compose init image, the chart and the Cloudron package. Multi-architecture: amd64 and arm64.

What you get

The same server on every channel

Every route installs the Ethora Core server: the API, the web chat and admin panel, the XMPP server with the Ethora modules and file storage, with SDKs for iOS, Android, React and React Native on top. No licence key to enter, nothing expires, nothing calls home. An Enterprise licence key switches on the advanced services on the same install.

Requirements

Before you install on your own server

  • Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04, 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, ports 80 and 443 open. Marketplace images come pre-sized.
  • Four DNS A records under your root domain, or one wildcard: api., app., xmpp. and files.. Plain records during install; xmpp. stays unproxied.
  • No domain yet? Pass a magic DNS name such as 203-0-113-10.sslip.io for a test install with a real certificate.
  • The web, iOS, Android and React Native SDKs connect to api.<root> and xmpp.<root>. See the Chat SDK pages for each platform.
  • Full reference, runbooks and the editions table: installer README.
Getting help

Support and licensing

  • Run deploy/scripts/health-check.sh first; it names the failing component.
  • Then open an issue on the installer repository or e-mail [email protected] with its output and the install or update log.
  • Never send deploy.yml or .deploy.env: they hold every secret of your install.
  • Enterprise customers get support under an SLA, with named contacts. Ask [email protected].

Questions about getting Ethora

Procurement, licensing and which route to pick.

Can we buy Ethora through AWS Marketplace and use our committed spend?

Yes. Ethora is listed on AWS Marketplace, and purchases through the marketplace count toward your committed AWS spend. For enterprise terms, custom pricing or an SLA, ask for a private offer: it appears in your AWS account and is accepted and billed there. E-mail [email protected] or book a call.

What is the difference between Ethora Core and Ethora Enterprise?

They are the same server install. Ethora Core is what every channel on this page installs: no licence key, nothing expires, sized for a single team or a pilot. Ethora Enterprise is a licence key from Dappros, applied in the admin panel, that adds push notifications, AI agents, compliance logging, SSO, multi-tenant hosting and unlimited apps and users, with support under an SLA. The editions table in the installer README lists the exact limits.

Which route should we pick?

Already on AWS: the Marketplace image, so the server sits in your account and on your bill. A Docker host or a platform such as Coolify, Dokploy or Portainer: Docker Compose. A Kubernetes cluster: the Helm chart. A plain Ubuntu server at any provider or on premises: the one-line installer. A regulated production deployment with an SLA: a managed dedicated server from Ethora, in your cloud account or ours.

Does the install need a licence key or an internet connection to run?

No. Ethora Core runs without a key, has no expiry and does not call home. Registering the server from the admin panel License page is optional and free: it raises the per-server limits and adds e-mail support. An Enterprise key is verified on your server and keeps working offline.

Is Ethora open source?

The SDKs for iOS, Android, React and React Native, the web client and the admin panel are open source on GitHub under the dappros organisation. The server, Ethora Core, is proprietary and provided under the Ethora Core Software License; Ethora Enterprise is licensed under the Enterprise EULA. Server source-code access is available to enterprise customers who need it for compliance review.

Can Ethora be configured for HIPAA?

Yes. A self-hosted Ethora server can be configured for HIPAA workloads: data stays on infrastructure you control, with encryption in transit and at rest, audit logging, role-based access and optional end-to-end encrypted rooms. Ethora does not claim certification on your behalf; the compliance configuration and a Business Associate Agreement are part of the Enterprise agreement. See the HIPAA-compliant chat API page.

Can we move between channels later?

Yes. Every channel installs the same images, so a server that started from a marketplace image can be updated with the installer scripts and later moved to another provider or on premises. Ethora is infrastructure-agnostic: Ubuntu Linux on amd64 or arm64, with no dependency on any one cloud.
