App (Application)

A piece of software built to serve a purpose — usually one with a strong user-facing side. In Ethora, an App is a self-contained project with its own isolated backend that an App Owner creates and manages.

APP

General definition

An App, or Application, is generally a software application that serves a certain purpose. Software is most often called an “app” when it has a strong user-facing, or Frontend, component — whether that’s a mobile app on iOS or Android or a web app in the browser.

The term usually excludes background processes like backup scripts, focusing instead on software with a meaningful interface that people actually interact with.

What an App means in Ethora

In Ethora, an App is a distinct project container with its own separated backend infrastructure. When you create an account you become an App Owner, and a single App Owner can manage multiple Apps.

  • Each App keeps an isolated server-side context for its users, files, documents and chats.
  • Multiple frontend components can connect to one App’s backend through a single API key.
  • App settings control backend functionality and certain frontend elements — logos, colours, chat rooms and sign-on options.

App Owners using Ethora’s no-code approach can change appearance directly in the Admin Panel, while those needing a custom interface can use the SDKs for low-code or fully custom development.
