React

An open-source JavaScript library from Meta for building user interfaces from reusable components. In Ethora, React & React Native power a shared codebase across web, desktop and mobile.

REACT

General definition

React is an open-source JavaScript library created by Meta for building user interfaces with a component-based architecture. It uses a virtual DOM for efficient rendering and JSX syntax that combines JavaScript with HTML-like markup.

React favours a predictable, one-way data flow for state management and is backed by an extensive ecosystem of tools and libraries — making it a default choice for interactive, real-time interfaces.

React in the Ethora ecosystem

Ethora uses React Native for mobile apps (iOS and Android) and React.js for web and desktop, sharing business logic across platforms from a single codebase. The virtual DOM keeps real-time messaging interfaces fast and responsive.

This powers Ethora’s reusable UI component libraries for chat, messaging, authentication and digital assets, delivered through the Chat SDK for React.js and React Native. The ethora-chat-component npm package adds full chat to a web app with minimal integration.
